Bobcat Skidloader

1995 The Beginnings

Jay Weaver was raising hogs at his farm in Reinholds, PA. Looking for a sideline business, he purchased a Bobcat 7753, along with a backhoe attachment and a trailer to tow behind his pickup. Using the local newspapers to advertise, he picked up a few small excavating jobs.

A few months later, he happened to find another machine similar to his own, but for a better price. He purchased it, then brought it home to clean and service it. Within a brief time after advertising it, he was able to make his first sale and so the story of Weaco Equipment begins.

1997 From Hogs to Equipment Sales

Finding equipment sales to be more enjoyable than raising hogs, Jay rented out the hog barn and focused his time and energy on the business. The bank barn was remodeled to accommodate an office and parts room. An LLC was created under the name Jay Weaver LLC.

1998 Importing Excavators

Began working with a wholesaler that was importing excavators. Weaco Equipment became a retail outlet for used mini excavators and excavators from Japan.

1999 Weaco Equipment Name Was Coined

The name Weaco Equipment was coined simply as a shorter version of "Weaver Company". At this point, the inventory had expanded to include larger machines.

2012 Rental Inventory Expanded

Weaco Equipment began to focus more attention on rentals. Instead of only renting machines sitting on the lot, we began keeping some machines for the purpose of maintaining a more reliable rental fleet.

2015 Sudden Changes

On Dec 17, Jay suffered a severe stroke. He spent the following weeks and months in the hospital and then in rehab. This brought sudden changes to the company, but with the help of God, a supportive community, and a good team in place, business went on with Jay's sons picking up where he left off.

2020 RSE Transport Partnership

Weaco Equipment sold the semi-trucks and trailers to Rising Sun Equipment Transport who still handles most of Weaco’s trucking needs.
